TL;DR:
- We do not sell your data to anyone. Full stop.
- We do not use kids' data for targeted advertising.
- A child's location is visible only to family members, if it's enabled at all.
- Payments are secured by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- Cancel your account in one click. All data is deleted within 30 days.
- A parent's voice recording (for reminders in your own voice) is optional. It is used only for your family's reminders, and it is deleted when you turn the feature off.
1. Who we are
Yooniz ("we", "us", "the Service") is a SaaS app for parents to manage daily routine, tasks, rewards, screen time, purchases, financial education, and savings goals for kids. The service is available at yooniz.com and as iOS and Android apps.
This document explains which personal information we collect about the parent and family members, why, how it's stored, and how you can view, correct, or delete it.
2. Who the app is for
Sign-up is only for parents or guardians aged 18+. The parent owns the account and adds the rest of the family (kids, partner). Kids do not sign up on their own. They enter the app through an account the parent created for them.
Yooniz does not collect data from children without explicit parental consent. Per COPPA (US), GDPR (EU), and other privacy laws, data about children under 13 is collected only after the parent consents, and only to operate the service.
3. What we collect
3.1 Parent information
- Email address and (hashed) password.
- First and last name.
- Phone number (if provided, for verification and password recovery).
- UI language and country.
- Payment details: stored only at Stripe. We have no access to them.
3.2 Information about kids and other family members
- First name (as entered by the parent).
- Age or date of birth.
- Avatar (selected icon, not a real photo).
- Personal password / sign-in code for the kid (if set).
3.3 In-app activity
- Tasks defined, completion status, and times.
- Each kid's Yoon balance (virtual currency).
- Purchases, savings goals, and screen time used.
- Wallet transaction history.
3.4 Location (optional)
The family location feature is fully optional. It's off by default. When the parent enables it, a family member's location is shared only with other family members, and not stored historically. You can turn it off at any time.
3.5 Technical information
- Device type, OS, and browser.
- IP address (for security and abuse prevention).
- Aggregated usage analytics, not linked to personal identity.
3.6 Voice recording for reminders in the parent's voice (optional)
Reminders in the parent's voice are completely optional, available to the parent only, and off by default. If you choose to turn them on, you record a short sample of your own voice (about 20 seconds), after explicitly confirming in the app that you agree to the use described here.
- Where the recording is stored: in our database (Firebase), in a place no app or device can read, not even your family's own devices. Only our server can access it.
- What we do with it: when reminders need to be created, our server sends the recording to our voice provider, ElevenLabs, Inc., which uses it to make a temporary copy of your voice. With that copy, a short audio reminder is created for each task, containing the child's first name and the task title. Right after that, we delete the voice copy at ElevenLabs.
- The audio reminders: they are stored in your family's data and played only within your family. Each child's device receives only that child's own reminders.
- Your voice is used only to create reminders for your family, and for nothing else. We do not use it to train models, for marketing or for advertising, and we do not sell it or pass it on to anyone else.
- Control and deletion: at any time you can re-record or turn the feature off in Settings → Notifications. A new recording replaces the previous one, and the audio reminders are recreated in the new voice. Turning the feature off deletes the recording and all audio reminders.
4. Why we collect this data
- To run the service: so tasks reach the right kid, Yoon land in the right wallet, etc.
- To sync across devices in the same family.
- To process subscription payments through Stripe.
- To provide personal support when you contact us.
- To protect the account from break-in attempts.
- To improve the app (aggregate data only).
- To meet legal requirements.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell personal information to anyone. We do not use kids' data for targeted advertising or marketing profiling.
We share data only with the following service providers, and only as needed to run the service:
- Google LLC (Firebase / Google Cloud): storage and authentication.
- Vercel Inc.: hosting of the website and app.
- Stripe, Inc.: payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant). Card numbers never pass through our servers.
- Anthropic, PBC: generating answers to questions a parent types into the AI advisor.
- Resend, Inc.: system messages and informational emails.
- ElevenLabs, Inc.: creating voice reminders in the parent's voice, only for families who turned the feature on. The temporary voice copy is deleted at ElevenLabs right after the reminders are created.
- Google LLC (Google Analytics) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Pixel): website usage analytics and ad measurement. Never used on children's in-app data.
6. Security
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with TLS 1.3.
- Passwords are stored hashed and cannot be recovered.
- Payments go directly to Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers.
- Access to data is restricted to staff who need it for their role, and logged.
- We run regular backups and periodic security audits.
- The Yooniz support team may view your account data (without being able to change anything) to guide and help you. We keep a record of every such view.
7. How long we retain data
Your data is retained as long as the account is active. After cancellation, it's kept for 30 more days (in case you return), and then permanently deleted. Immediate deletion is available by contacting support.
Payment records are retained by Stripe for 7 years, as required by accounting laws.
The voice recording and the audio reminders (if you turned the feature on) are kept until you turn the feature off, and are deleted together with the rest of your data if the account is deleted. The temporary voice copy at ElevenLabs is deleted right after each round of reminder creation.
8. Your rights
Per GDPR, COPPA, and other privacy laws, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: see what data we hold about you and your kids.
- Right to rectification: correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): delete the account and all data.
- Right to data portability: receive a copy of your data in a readable format.
- Right to restrict processing: limit how we use your data.
- Right to object: object to specific uses of your data.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, remember your interface language, and prevent impersonation.
On our website (outside the app), we may also use Google Analytics and Meta Pixel cookies for usage analytics and ad measurement. You can disable them in your browser settings. We don't use advertising cookies on the child's app screens.
10. Children and privacy
Yooniz is designed to be used at home by parents and kids together. We do not collect information from kids under 13 except through the parent's account, and only with the parent's explicit consent. The kid is not required to enter an email, phone, or identifying personal details, only a first name and age provided by the parent.
The parent can at any time view, correct, or delete a kid's data from the "Family" menu in the app.
11. International data transfers
Some of our servers (Firebase, Stripe, Vercel) sit outside your country. All providers comply with international privacy standards (GDPR, Privacy Shield Successor Framework). Transfers use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be sent by email before they take effect. The last-updated date appears at the top of the document.
